photos ~ anime conventions

I started attending anime cons in 2002. I have a bunch of photos on film I still need to develop from the first con because i didng have a digital camera then, but most of the others i had a camera (though some I barely used it).
As well as photos of people in cosplay and stuff this section also includes other pics taken while on the trips to these cons.

Anime.au 2004

Went down to Canberra in April for Anime.au. what an adventure...bussed down, nearly had a heart attack after climbing stairs at backpackers while suffering from evil head cold. at the con itself they had a theatre that played jpop/rock PVs all day long - once i found it i spent almost ALL day in there. me and another girl were shown how to choose th PVs and we were in control all day lobg! WOO!
Later in the evening Reset0 were playing a gig and its the only thing I managed to take photos of.... oops!

Supanova 2004 (sydney)

Supanova is more a pop culture expo than an anime cin but they do have anime stuff there and many people cosplay. Like the previous year I only went one day because the venue - with the noise it generates - is headache inducing. My friend and I only stayed a couple of hours. After I got what I wanted I was bored and my friend has issues with crowds, so we departed early. The highlight for me was meeting Xenia Seeburg from Lexx!
It was really cool - when we were queued up outside just as we reached the door they stopped the line so the 'celebrities' could be brought in. When I saw Xenia and was all 'she's so tiny!" she always looks kind of amazonian next to the rest of the cast in Lexx. :D she was lovely too!

Animania 2003

had muchas fun this year. got to see lots of people i only usually get to talk to online.
i didnt go to the cosplay on saturday becase i was watching much-wanted-to-see anime. and i dont have THAT many pics compared to some.
anyways - i cosplayed...ARGH! there are pictures of me looking awful and fat! WAH! oh well - on with the suffering.

I cant dedice if his choice of cosplay is wrong or not ^-^ The Great Debate (no pics of Neil and Dave in the store room though! WAH!) Fire alarm forces con-goers onto the lawn on an extremely windy day. i find friends and make them sad by taking pictures - YAY! Yuki with some other Gravi cosplayers - how can one NOT glomp Ryuichi? I bought some of her art - its gorgeous! A Tama-god in cosplay. I didnt get a picture of her as Yuna on saturday :( Another tama-god. is this the face of evil? i think so.....and so will my bank when they see the state of my credit card No-Face just standing around looking scary....heehee Fat chick on stage - feel my shame. they put me on first for gods sake! Shinji. he was straight after me. nice bloke... a Lulu - COOL! and i was miles away from saturdays cosplayers and i didnt get to see sundays csplay event! crapola...behold my meagre collection of pics.

doing the tourist thing on friday...HEY LOOK OUT!! ^-^! kids taking pics of the guy under the safe in the alley. orange haired girl is Suz from brisvegas - my new buddy! had lunch in this noodle place - it sure is popular! Suz and i taking pics of each other.. food!!! Suz and i ran off to explore chinatown - at some point we found this church which i thought was cute so i took a pic. Suz and i on the tram back to the hotel bye bye nice tram! i am scared of melbourne trams when i am on my own! the view from our window! shot of our room. somewhere on that bed is a yaoi anthology that would scare certain members of the male species...possibly some of the female one too. i found it funny myself. the sinister hallways of hotel bakpak...what lies beyond those doors? i'll tell you what - its damn scary! ANIME FANS! friday nite - adelaidians...mitchel and his friend i dont remember the name of!! T.T after picking up our pass thingies for the weekend a bunch of us trundled off to Galactic Circus at Crown Casino. took this on the way. a certain Canberran giving me the bird! the DDR thingy!! some of our gang on the DDR thingy! SUPERDUPERMADMAN EMPLOYEE on DDR thingy!! saturday morning - Suz gives me the bird...WAH! i think this is Shiori - super K-worshipper! she is cosplaying a character from Scrapped Princess. she was one of our roomies! Suz in her cosplay outfit. a canberran and a dentist in the making near the tamatable! Adelaide girl in cosplay...damn i gotta learn her name! cant keep calling her adelaide girl. Joey as Lain...KAWAII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! suckers queuing for entry - I MOCK YOU! the hordes at the tamatable - i feel sorry for the tamastaff. DiscoFever's tennis ball of an ankle. poor guy! (btw - what sort of nick is that??) A GIANT MOOGLE!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!!!!!!! two lains for the price of one! at the cosplay event on saturday. crap pictures ahead Auron!! and what are they doing to the moogle?? ^-^ Faye Valentine (but THANK GOD ITS NOT MAN-FAYE!!) Squall and Quistis - YAY Misha and Shia from Pita-ten! KAWAII!!!! the hordes at tamatable again...i want an Ein!!!!!!!!!! i know the secret identity of that tama-guy! mwahahaha! the no face dude from Spirit Away. tama-employee as Yuna from ffx-2. doesnt she look AWESOME????? had to lighten this as it was uber dark - joey kept pulling faces at me at dinner...i kept taking photos! HEEHEE! more faces - had to lighten this too. A-chan as Sumomo. she really embraced her role...as Mary and Gab found out. ^-^ the PACKED yaoi panel. re-set://0 setting up. Ami waiting for re-set://0. this woman shared air with GacktJOB! I WORSHIP HER! band about to start. did andy pose under that light on purpose? shawn. the infamous manifest sponsored epileptic fit! i'm with the band! LOL! after gig photos...i felt enough shame leaping up to take this..i wasnt ganna shame myself further by getting a pic with them! T.T this was the best pic i had of the karaoke performers. she was THE best singer too. chatted with her and Ami outside before re-set://0 started.

Supanova 2003

i have to say i didnt dig it as much as Manifest or Animania but i did meet some Tamabuds (boohoo - my only pic of Yuki and Mary came out really blurry!!!). i only went one day even though i had paid for both days. the first day was gave me such a headache i couldnt face a second day!

a very shiny squall cosplayer! da bunny hat worn in a public place other than work! very cool Wakka and Lulu cosplayers some Card Captor Sakura cosplayers doing a skit Shiny Squall and a Rinoa get interrogated! is this a cosplay or a goth convention? (okay so the big furry thing detracts from the goth idea but i was trying to be funny DAMNIT!) btw - super animania cosplay mc dave is on the left! WHY OH WHY DIDNT THEY LET HIM DO IT HERE TOO????? Wakka up close Lulu up close! and its random catgirl from Animania (i think she did random catgirl at manifest too but i havent developed the film from those photos - boohoo!)

Animania 2002

had a great day...even though i was pretty tired. sadly the father would not loan me his snazzola digital camera so my mc3 was put to work and as usual did a shithouse job! ^-^ so some of the pics below are blurry - check out the snazzy one of Mitchel from Adelaide - it has that lovely soft focus look to it - amazing stuff that i couldnt fake if i tried!
i had way more pics of everyone but they came out really, REALLY crap!

i actually took this photo at lunch but this is the registration desk aaah - blurry goodness. this is the cavernous drawing and art contest area! i got dragged down there alot by my friend craig but it made me very sad....all those good artists! please kill me now ere tis! soft focus magic! this is Mitchell from Adelaide dressed up as Orphen. coooool! he was also at Manifest. (i did a lot of 'ooh - that person was at manifest' at animania). i did take a pic of him doing a snazzy pose but it didnt come out - STUPID CAMERA!!!!!!!! blurry pic of the kids in the Great Debate. topic was Subs vs Dubs. but the debate itself was a riot! DigiCharat cosplayers my friend craig and a friend of his (rego desk at the top right) Judges for the cosplay. superstar andy in white shirt! ^-^ start of my crap selection of pics of people doing cosplay - dave was a STAR mc! mitchel. was cheering for him because he was one of the few people i SORT of knew! :) argh - blurry but i had to post. these guys were dressed as the main characters from Fruits Basket. the token Yuna! random catgirl! sakura. if there werent a million sailor scouts it was sakura! digicharat girls again. did i mention a sailor scout? while we waited for the judges to decide jordan from the great debate came down to help dave entertain us all. he was funny - though a little INSANE!! andy again addressing the crowd... cosplayers ahoy! man i should have done this closer to the event - i think Yuna won.... ...and this sakura got an honourable mention or something.
