This fanlist is for the following:
~Kanon the computer games
~Kanon (original series)
~Kanon (2006 series)
» fanlists
fanlists were a concept thought up by the very nifty janine. the idea is to gather together all the people who like a particular show/person/etc. its different to a clique because cliques usually restrict membership to people with websites - where as with a fanlist the minimum you need is an email address and be willing to tell what country you are from.

» the story
During winter, a young man named Yuuichi returns to a city after 7 years to stay with his aunt Akiko and his cousin Nayuki. He has little memory of his previous stay.
While there he meets a number of girls including Ayu (a girl who seems to wander around the town, 'bumping' into Yuuichi after 'acquiring' some taiyaki - a japanese snack in the shape of a fish), Makoto (a strange girl with no memory who ends up staying at his aunts house for a time, and likes to play pranks on Yuuichi), Mai (a quiet girl who fights invisible demons that haunt the school Yuuichi attends), and Shiori (a girl who doesnt attend school because she is sick - but always seems to be loitering about).
He starts to remember events that happened 7 years before, and it turns out he has a past with some of these girls that he has forgotten.
Its a very sweet anime. Though keep in mind - it is based on a love sim game - so it wont be everyones cup of tea.

» the versions
Kanon began its life as a love sim computer game in 1999 created by a group called Key. 3 more versions of the game were released including a Dreamcast and PS2 version.
The original anime series by Toei Animation aired in 2002 and had 13 episodes. In 2003 a special called Kazahana, set in the SPring after the first series was released, showing all the characters and what was happening in their life.
In 2006 Kyoto Animation created a new series (commonly called Kanon 2006 online). They had previously made a series called Air, which was also a game created by Key - the group who made the original game of Kanon.
Its interesting to see the small changes made in the two series, and Kanon 2006 will run for 24 episodes so I am looking forward to what extra will be added to the series to flesh it out.
Both series have never been released in the west, but are available for download by different fansub groups. The original series was released on DVD in Japan, but the new series is still airing.
