okay – well i guess i can talk about the bushfires<\/a>. we have been pretty lucky – since last week for those couple of days were the fires were right near our street, the fires havent been anywhere really close again. unfortunately other parts of the blueys cant say the same. this pic<\/a> shows where the fire is coming…it may have moved since this pic was done but yeah – poor kids in woodford are in danger. winmalee is on the otherside of the highway (see where Hawkesbury road is – keep going along there and you reach winmalee where i live), so unless this fire jumps the highway…and fires have been known to do that – winmalee and our side of springwood are okay….for now. then again some residents out our way got it pretty bad last week when the fires were down singles ridge road and out at yellow rock.
\nyesterday in the cab home the driver had another radio next to his seat playing the chatter on one of the emergency services radio things. this poor girl who was relaying messages around..man she’d have been exhausted after her shift. people were speaking to her non-stop.
\nand yesterday arvo – waiting at the taxi rank – the smoke billowing up from the fire up near woodford made the sun this cool pinky\/red. excellent stuff.
\nthis satelite pic<\/a> shows how the smoke has been wafting eastwards out to sea….but because going east from where i live is sydney….for days the the city has been really smokey. apart from when the fire was near we have had smoke free days and lots of blue skies. go the blueys! and here<\/a>‘s a nifty pic from those friendly NASA kids. took me long enough to figure out where ol’ sydney was…hehehe. this is another<\/a> NASA piccy but smaller and looks more smokey i guess because its smaller. ooh and another<\/a> that i like is halfway down this page.
\nanyways i have to get back to work. i may add some more links to the above text when i have time to find them.<\/p>\n
