Yelle = <3

Back in March when I posted about Techtonik (odd lil dance craze that was popular in France last year) I think I included this video for Yelles song A Cause des Garcons (Tepr remix) because it was the first thing I saw with techtonik dancing, but DAMN I also loved the song - makes me wanna daaaaance (but not like those dudes - lol).

Well I cant recall how long after tha but I bought Yelles album Pop Up. Its all in french of course and I understand one word out of maybe 20 but i still love it!

One of the few songs I actually comprehend a LOT more lyrics for is Je Veux te Voir. Her first ever song was a shortened version of this and it was called Short Dick Cuizi and was taking the piss at some guy in the french hip hop scene called Cuizinier. haha

Yelles myspace also has a cool video (well i think) of her performing that song live! i love the crowd singing along!!!

My two fave songs on the cd are Tristesse/Joie and Amour Du Sol but for like 2 weeks after I got it I had the whole album on repeat on my ipod. I dunno why I am sharing after all this time. I guess I just wanna pimp the Je Veux te Voir vid some more. It makes me laugh.

Anyways she has a new vid out - Ce Jeu. I keep worrying as I watch it the one of her tops is gonna gape open and show her lil boobies. LOL! But yay - this vid has the boys - Grandmarnier who produced her album (he's on the drums and plays drums on her tours), and Tepr on the keyboards (he does the rest of teh music on her tours and did the AWESOME remix of A Cause Des Garcons! WOO!). Grand Narnier's a bit of a babe by the way! (check out his pics on myspace - i speak the truth y'all!! haha)

I am really depressed - she is doing an American tour right now and it ends DAYS before i get to North America - DENIED MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

siiiiiing, sing a soooong.

A non-salvage post. Dont fall off your chair in shock. BUT WAIT! Its about the main other topic I have been posting about lately - music.

So for reasons i have yet to fathom about 2am this morn i was feeling an overwhelming sense of 'dude i need some more decent rock songs to listen to! i have quite a lot of stuff on my computer (as i found out) but i decided to make a playlist in itunes. Originally i was going for slightly more hard core stuff (first songs I added where White Zombies Welcome to Planet Motherfucker and Black Sunshine...heh) but when the standard dropped remarkably as i addrd The Final Countdown by Europe I decided it should be a little broader. originally the playlist was called rockin shit now its rock and some cheese. haha
but yeah - the damn thing has 500 songs and only about 5 of them were downloaded last night...so uh yeah. i had more than i thought....but then the standards of rock ARE pretty low - Avril Lavigne songs are in there......

but yeah - i also went on a mini downloading spree. was up till almost 4am. therefore i am veeeeeeeery tired right now.

i also decided to make another playlist called electronica which my plan was to have any techno-y/electronic music stuff....but it broadened to anything you can dance to and some seriously lame sythy pop music. so i renamed it as well to electronica-dance etc
anyhoo its only 308 songs.....but it could be way huger if i added all my Daisuke Asakura stuff....but i was a bit choosy.

Anyways i was listening to the rock and some cheese one most of today......i have an alarming number of tracks that are on Guitar Hero 3!

oh - people keep bugging me how many songs do i have...i will write it here (though it could change shortly...am always adding stuff) - 5686 songs....15.8 days worth of music.......noice!!!!

I'm not too obsessed with music am i? :D

But I love the song.....I should probably look for some more Dresden Dolls music. Its odd enough that I think it would be my cup of tea! :D

Imogen Heap

Okay I should be in bed but I am watching cool vids of Imogen Heap performing her songs live on youtube. Its so awesome!!

I actually bought her first album I Megaphone when it first came out....she was doing a promo tour in Australia and she was on one of the silly shows on the ABC on Saturday morning - Recovery maybe???? and she performed Come Here Boy and i was IN LOVE! I bought the album just for that song....in fact I listened to the album once, ripped THAT song to mp3 and ignored the rest. yeah - what a top fan!
Anyway most of the clips below are live performances (2 actual music videos) so maybe if you havent heard the studio versions you might not appreciate how awesome she can be....but I love how she can perform a song with just herself, a mic, computer and her keyboards. Chick is awesome!

Come Here Boy video

More recently, sometime after it was used a bazillion times all over the shop, at the start of 2006 I discovered her song Hide and Seek. At firs the use of the vocoder thing just made me think of the song O Superman by Laurie Anderson but then I just FELL IN LOVE WITH IT TOO!
Hide and Seek (live) - omgawd slap the crowd!

It took until the end of that year for me to hear Goodnight and Go and up until a few months ago it was my fave song by her...but it has been replaced by the song Glittering Cloud.
Goodnight and Go music video

Glittering Cloud (live)

I love how she builds the songs up! So talented! There is also a slideshow video so you can here the studio version here (god i love it!!!)

(somewhere in there was a brief interlude of love for the song Let Go from her band Frou Frou too).
Let Go (live)

I am now leaning towards loving the song Speeding Cars as well.....haha.
Speeding cars (live)

So yeah - apart from being on the ball with Come Here Boy back in the day I have been mega slow at appreciating Imogens stuff but its bloody fantastic.

But really - I am going to bed now..... :D

"Leave me shaking in my go-go boots" baby!

WOO!!! I have been a fan of Voice of the Beehive for YEARS!!! In fact probably my love of the internet started around the same time because I remember looking for sites about them in the early years of my web obssesion. haha

The first song I knew about them was I Think I Love You because it was quite popular in Australia when it came out, but obsession began because my brother had a friend who was a big fan and the bro had borrowed their first two albums on cd and would play them all the time and I FELL IN LOVE!!!

Ebay has been my friend and enabled me to buy their albums on cd. THANKS EBAY! (Though I did have a copy of Honey Lingers I bought in a record store...on cassette...oh the olden days!)

So yeah - I always have at least one or two songs by them on whatever playlist I am listening to on my iTunes.

Anyways - so the girls were recently featured in the second half of a radio show called Revenge of the 80s.
Anyways just having a listen (if you go to the post the second hour has the interview and thats all I am listening to) - the first song they play is like ONE OF MY FAVES - OHMYGOD!!!

Okay - songs played for newbs:
I Say Nothing - A FAVE OF MINE!
I Walk the Earth - ANOTHER FAVE!!!
Monsters and Angels - used to be a FAVE but I think i suffer from over playage!
I Think I Love You - its a cover, but its a fun cover!

Anyways - heres a not so great quality Youtube vid of I Say Nothing:

Werent they adorable????????

Anyway, it says in the interview that you can now get their stuff from the iTunes Music Store so I will list my top 5 songs (AT THE MOMENT - this always changes) here in case you wanna have a listen. I should just list my top 5 LEAST favourite actually because i love MOST of their songs...the least faves is a VERY short list.

2) Heavenly (Sex & Misery)
